I'm glad to be able to help.

No worries. It's an easy mistake to make. A (non-NetBSD) colleague
fell into the same trap recently, which is partly why I guessed you
had done the same.

regrets for not replying to this part earlier, my email server
incurred a large delay.

After NetBSD-3 was branched but before netBSD-3.0 was released, i
added support (newer PCi IDs) for the SATA cards to amr(4), and the
manpage entry you cite. The support was pulled up to NetBSD-3 in time
to NetBSD-3.0.

I have never had an Intel card to test. I relied on the FreeBSD and
Linux drivers which treat the Intel boards identically to the LSI
Logic boards. So if the Intel-OEM card ever worked, it should
continue to work. I don't know how or why amr(4) seems to have
diverged.

Perhaps you could open a PR about that?
