It's probably related to greylisting: first mail is delayed (I don't know
the value configured on NetBSD servers, probably something like 15 or 30mn)
for a minimum time, once the first is accepted the next mails can go in
without delays.

The real delay depends on the retry value configured on the remote MTA.
