Hi,

I would like to report that using mount -o async during installation and 
in general while unpacking large tar archives brings a speedup of 500% 
(in my case a ~0.6G software install to wd disk, UDMA2, from cdrom, x52, 
uncompressed archives, using tar, went from 32 minutes to 6 minutes).

I do not know what sysinst uses but imho it should use -o async if it 
does not already.
