G'day,
When booting a Dell Inspiron 9300 with a NetBSD kernel > 3.99.3 the CDROM/DVD
drive combo is recognized but fails to operate. A current GENERIC-LAPTOP
kernel, as of 3-Aug-05, shows the following bootup message:
wd0 at atabus0 drive 0: <HTS548080M9AT00>
wd0: drive supports 16-sector PIO transfers, LBA48 addressing
wd0: 76319 MB, 155061 cyl, 16 head, 63 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 156301488 sectors
wd0: 32-bit data port
wd0: drive supports PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 5 (Ultra/100)
wd0(piixide0:0:0): using PIO mode 4, Ultra-DMA mode 5 (Ultra/100) (using DMA)

Older kernel versions work. Google showed up with several messages describing
the above problem but didn't reveal any fixes. I've tried several custom
kernels with and without *FIXUP* options to no avail.

Any ideas?
