What kind of chip is it? Porting the driver to XFree86 4.x might not be
too difficult. It just didn't happen for a lot of old hardware because
nobody could test it/

It's actually very easy:

cd pkgsrc/x11/xserver
make install

You would have horribly outdated X11 and lot of security holes. See
above for the correct solution.
