All *appears* well with ifconfig.  See below.  Other then that, the
ethernet interface is just fine (tlp0 is not configured intentionally.)

When I run ifconfig to configure the tlp0 interface, it returns and
successfully configures the interface.  However, applications (namely
'pine' and 'xauth' as a component of 'startx') still hang when run, and
they hang for inordinate amounts of time (nearly 5 minutes before doing
anything useful in the case of pine, and 10 in the case of startx,
because it apparently tries to run xauth twice).

Below is what I've done, in order, and still winding up with this
result.  If there is information from the system that I can get that
would be useful, let me know, I am only just starting with NetBSD and I
can't dig information out of it like I am used to on Linux.

If there is any relevant information that can be grepped from the output
of 'sysctl -a' then please let me know; the output from that command is
8,576 bytes, so I won't paste all of that in here, this is big enough as
it is.
