I have no experience with the machines, but I would assume that
they would not run a default NetBSD/i386 kernel.

There was a thread about this on port-sgimips a while back.
Looking briefly at linux, it seems like it wouldn't be too much
work to get one going, but someone would need a machine and the
inclination.
