There are many ways... including:

Boot the install CD, but press the space bar during the 10 second countdown.
Type 'boot hd0a:' to boot the system.
The run '/sbin/installboot /dev/rwd0a /usr/mdec/bootxx_ffsv1'.

Or run through sysinst's install option, but deselect all the sets.

Or exit sysinst, mount /dev/wd0a, chroot into it and run installboot.
