Actually, I don't use GIMP but I use softdeps since 1.6ZG IIRC and I
never had any problems. I currently have 321 packages installed (they
were built under several versions of NetBSD - from 1.6ZG to 2.0_RC2,
which is the version I'm running ATM). Anyway, softdeps isn't
considered really stable as you can read from mount(8).

I don't agree that the problem is *serious*, but it's an issue that
needs to be solved ASAP without delaying 2.0 release (something serious 
would crash the system or make it unusable).

Finding the roots of the umass problem will be hard (it's memory
fragmentation), so if we're going to delay 2.0 because of that when
will it be available ? Next year ? Is it worth ? :-(
