Just naming nits..

est seems like an even less obvious name than before..

machdep.* currently has other things related to cpu properties that
may or may not be there, eg sse/sse2.

I agree they all seem nicer under hw.cpu.* (or hw.cpu.N.* ?) but that
might be later.
