/usr/X11R6/bin/scanpci also does not show it

As it is a production server, I cannot install ms crap or FreeBSD
to see what they say. Maybe I'll boot Knoppix some time to see
what that sees on the PCI bus.

For me, it is not really very important any more to get the device back.
I'm using NetBSD since 1995 and it has given me far more than it took 
away :)
