  What I have always done is to set those kind of values to the lowest
values they can reasonably be (based on the resolution I want), so I
usually ended up with something like 31kHz / 50Hz on my old laptops.

  I'm not sure that is the right thing to do in every respect, but sync
frequencies / signals are specific to "normal" screens anyway, so..
