I did mean "esc"; I confused the two issues - stupid of me! However, that "sysctl" switch was what I wanted! Thanks!

I've found out that this happens at ANYPOINT while the system is running - so even at the CLI a "Ctrl+alt+Backspace" will kill my computer! Need to check if it's a BIOS thing or crap PC hardware - I'm pretty sure that it's NOT a NetBSD thing ;-)
