The PCI*FIXUP code doesn't work well if multiple graphics cards
are present.
(This happened to me once when I tried a PCI-Cardbus adapter which wasn't
configured by the BIOS.)

On a desktop system -- isn't there a "Plug & Play OS" BIOS setting?
