Well, it depends on what you're doing. If you're doing lots of small,
random I/O, performance isn't so hot. The 7850 I was using seemed to be
limited to about 120-150 I/Os per second regardless of the number of
drives or how they were configured (even if configured as JBOD!). That's
hardly even even twice the 60-90 I/OPS I could get from a single one of
the drives on that controller.
