Approximately no ethernet cards have 10base5.  It daresay it really
means AUI, to which can be attached a transceiver for (at least)
10base5, 10base2, and 10baseT.  (Which is not to say your card truly
*has* AUI, of course.)

Not all cards actually allow software to change the medium type.  It
seems possible to me, not knowing the card, that it could actually be
"manual" (and the driver is lying when it claims it has
software-controllable medium capability), and you need to change
jumpers or some such to switch which connector is live.
