Twenty minutes from login: to Password: already sounds completely
unusable to me :-)

I wonder if perhaps very-low-RAM machines should page their
swap-management data structures...or at least most of them; obviously,
they can't _all_ be paged.

For that matter, if only we could page the kernel itself...but that
would be a bit too much of a redesign, I suppose.
