  Well, I've had the same problem since day 1 with a Radeon VE.  I've been
through several clean installations (builds from source) of xsrc and xfree86,
and they've all exhibited the same problem.  The fact that you know someone
who doesn't have the problem is promising.  Can you find out what his config
looks like?  Could it be a bios-setting issue?  BTW: my card is an AGP, but
it sounds like the prolem occurs with the PCI versions as well.
