Ladies and Gentlemen:

I thank ALL of you for contributing suggestions.  Several people said
the Intel cards were the way to go.  I decided to get the 
"Intel PRO/100 S Desktop Adapter," (Intel item # PILA8460C3.  Uses the
82550EY chip.).  This is their card with the integrated encryption 
co-processor.  Intel's web page for it is at:

While it was available cheaper elsewhere, I got it through the retailler
I normally use, Insight, for two reasons.  First, it gives me the
advantage of getting Intel's lifetime waranty was valid because I
purchased it directly.  Second, I'm stingy with my personal information
so like to keep the number of vendors down.  Here's their URI for it:

I put it in my machine, rebooted the Toshiba cable modem that hooks me
into the Time Warner Road Runner network, turned on my machine into
NetBSD, typed "dhclient fxp0" and everything worked great!  I can't tell
you how happy this makes me after spending MONTHS trying to get NetBSD
networked using my sip driven card, only to be thwarted at every turn.

Andrew, I saw your comment and was affraid the card I'd already ordered
wouldn't work.  Fortunately, it does.  Are you talking about the card
I'm talking about?

While I'm running netbsd-i386-1.5.3Z_ALPHA, I suspect it'd work fine in 
1.5.2.
