Did you try to specify the interface media like ' media 10baseT, AUI, driver
specific ' in ifconfig's options ?
Or in /etc/ifconfig.ex0 , eg :
192.168.1.1 netmask 0xffffff00 media 10baseT

And be sure no other interface at irq 10
