A couple of questions:
1.  How are people identifying the scan codes for new keys?  My mom's laptop
has a couple of unused keys, and I'd love to make them useful.
2.  Is there any way to make keys do more interesting things than send a
single keystroke-type event to the console?  I guess I can always write an X
hack of some sort, and make the keys do stuff in X only, but it'd be great
if I could bypass that.  ;-)
