Please share the output of the 'dmesg' command with us [i.e. if you're
just on the progress of installing, enter the shell from sysinst, and
try /sbin/dmesg. Especially interesting are all lines containing atapibus,
pciide (if it's a PCI IDE controller) and cd[0-9]

From what you've written we can only guess, and not too good :)
