Okay, how 'bout this one.

I have similar symptoms to Anne's (the machine won't boot from the
hard disk after wiping it out and successfully restoring the file
system). I think I used to get a "No operating system" complaint.
Just now, I tried (from a 1.5.2 install floppy) an installboot of
biosboot.sym. Now, when trying to boot from the hard disk, I see:

  F1: NetBSD
  A

=2E.. and then nothing.

My fdisk:

  NetBSD disklabel disk geometry:
  cylinders: 6082 heads: 18 sectors/track: 162 (2916 sectors/cylinder)
 =20
  BIOS disk geometry:
  cylinders: 1023 heads: 255 sectors/track: 63 (16065 sectors/cylinder)
 =20
  Partition table:
  0: sysid 169 (NetBSD)
      start 63, size 17796014 (8689 MB), flag 0x80
          beg: cylinder 0, head 0, sector 0
          end: cylinder 961, head 17, sector 34
  1: <UNUSED>
  2: <UNUSED>
  3: <UNUSED>

=2E.. and my disklabel:

  # /dev/rsd0d:

  flags:

   f: 4164048 12585456 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 4316 - 57=

   g: 1046573 16749504 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 5744 - 61=
02*)

Note that both my MBR and my disklabel claim that a: starts at
sector 63, unlike Anne's problematic disk.

Any thoughts?
