sorry for the long delay. There are several linux projects you might 
want to investigate. 

There is the linuxbios at "http://www.acl.lanl.gov/linuxbios/"

and the openbios at "http://www.freiburg.linux.de/OpenBIOS/"

and a linux kerneldriver you might wish to port ;) at 
"http://www.freiburg.linux.de/~stepan/bios/".
