I get a similar result from plugging in my USB<->RS232 adapter on a Dell
XPS T600 and a Dell Dimension 8100.
The port is disabled when the BAFO-810 (
http://bafo.com/proddetail.cfm?ID=395 ) is plugged in and enabled when it's
removed. Works under Win98SE and WinME, though...
