I have personally had diskettes be incorrectly written on some h/w using
other versions of rawrite.exe (from linux, especially), but never have had
bad diskettes written by the netbsd distributed rawrite version(s).

Are you sure the rawrite.exe and rawrite32.exe really differ between NetBSD and
Linux? And then, would all Linux distributions use the same rawrite? Shelf
life is also an issue with diskettes, and I think I've had some faulty disk
writes using DR-DOS DISKCOPY, and that was for writing five diskettes from the
big download file (self-extracting DOS .EXE) after self-extracting. So I used
recently reformatted diskettes to RAWRITE the NetBSD, OpenBSD and Linux images,
not using any that revealed any bad sectors.

Actually, I could boot Linux Slackware boot and root diskettes and write other
images to diskette using dd or cat.
