Are you _positive_ that your card is jumpered to use irq 9? The isa ne
driver will assume that the IRQ specified in the config file is the right
one, since there's no real way to determine it for ISA NE2000 cards.

I'd say the card is indeed at port 0x280, but it's using something other
than irq 9. That would definitely cause 'device timeout' messages to be
spewed from the kernel.
