As has been mentioned on the port-hpc{arm,mips,sh} mailing lists, make sure
that you mount / either read-only or "noatime", so that there aren't
continuous writes to the CF card.  CF cards can't absorb the same number of
write cycles as a real drive.

(On that note, it's also not a very good idea to put swap on CF; go swapless
if you don't have a spindled drive.)
