Does it try to run uname? We had problems at work with the MAPLE algebra
package. It actually runs fine under NetBSD Linux-emulation, but
the script that runs it uses uname. I ended up fixing it by fiddling 
with the script in the MAPLE distribution that used uname, so that it 
always uses the Linux >=2.2 portion.
