Sometimes X locks up, but only the keyboard (I think)...

I'll have logged in via kdm, and be typing in the text 
editor, when the curser just stops.

The mouse and the mouse buttons still work, but I can't
type any letters.

I have to logout of KDE, and select "Shutdown..." and 
then "Restart X Server"  to make the keyboard useable
again.

The other screens, CTRL-ALT-F2 and all work okay, just
not X.

Any ideas what might be happening?
