Hi!

I'm yet trying to build a file-server using NetBSD+RaidFrame+4ATA HD.
But again i'm facing heavy problem in doing this.

The symptom is still the same, when i try to initialize/read/write the
raid volume the network card go away...

The chipset is a VIA686A,the card is a Realtek 8139 and the IDE
controllers are on-board ,changing the card (e.g. using a 3com)
attenuate the problem ,but doesn't resolve it .

I tried a lot of combination ,and every NetBSD release/snapshot from 1.5
to current.

Nowadays is very difficult (near impossible to me) to find motherboard
manufactures that use a different chipset from VIA.....so,i got three
possibilities.

a) Use SCSI devices (very expensive)
b) Find a software workaround/patch/upgrade that will solve this
problem.
c) Buy an Hardware fully supported and of course that is easily
available on market.

Anynone owns a solutions?

Thanks..

# Flags are used only with controllers that support DMA operations
# and mode settings (e.g. some pciide controllers)
# The lowest order four bits (rightmost digit) of the flags define the
PIO
# mode to use, the next set of four bits the DMA mode and the third set
the
# UltraDMA mode. For each set of four bits, the 3 lower bits define the
mode
# to use, and the last bit must be 1 for this setting to be used.
