To solve this type of limitation, some sets of extensions to the original
ISO9660 format have been introduced. The drawback of these extensions is
that it will not be possible to share the CD on different platforms.

 \___

(That's a paragraph, taken verbatim from the Guide. Nothing before or
after says that if you use ``_only_'' one of these, then the CD won't be
sharable.)

Maybe it reads differently in the other languages. In English, the lack
of qualifications implies that anytime you use any extensions it is
impossible to use the CD on other platforms.

Based on my understanding of mkisofs, I might recast this paragraph as:

To solve this type of limitation, some sets of extensions to the original
ISO9660 format have been introduced. Be advised, however, that for any
given extension, there are platforms that may not support it.

(Hm. How severe can the incompatibilities be? In theory, I assume
that a CD using extensions may be rejected as malformed. In practice,
what's the worst that's generally seen?)

Yes, mkhybrid was mentioned in the Guide. I somehow missed the promised
mkhybrid example despite expressly looking for it. I was trying to draw
attention to what I thought was an absent example. Sorry.

Other than that...

Thanks for the responses and clarifications.
