	Good theory - but I still get the "Undefined symbol" messages.
	I got rid of the libjpeg problem by uninstalling everything, then
	installing png-1.0.9nb1 and jpeg-6b before reinstalling kd1-1.1.2

	I also get an "Undefined Symbol" message from libstdc++.so.2
	for "__vt_9exception".

	I have to say that my enthusiasm for NetBSD in comparison to
	FreeBSD or RedHat .. is staring to wane ..
