There are two `obvious' things to check here:

1) As others have suggested, there was a problem with TCP checksums
   being calculated slowly in 1.5.  fvdl and I have fixed that, and the
   changes should be in 1.5.1.

2) Are you using pipes anywhere?  It's known that our pipe bandwidth is
   currently a bit... suboptimal.  We need to work on that.
