Hello,
I just upgraded from a Matrox Millenium PCI to a G450, and am having a
difficult time getting X working. I've tried xfree86 3.3.6 (from
ftp.netbsd.org) and 4.0.2 (from ftp.xfree86.org) to no avail. I'm using a
Sony GDM-200PS [1], which worked fine on the Millenium at 1152x864.
Everything _looks_ like it's configured correctly, as the server starts up
with no apparent errors. The monitor, however, does one of two things:
Either it displays "out of sync range" (tends to do that for higher
resolutions, 1024x768 and greater), or it displays vertical stripes
(640x480, 800x600). I suspected a sync problem, so I tried enabling
sync-on-green, which didn't help. Under XF86 4, I tried forcing AGP 2X mode
instead of 4X.
Has anyone seen this behavior before? Is this a configuration problem, or do
I have a bum card? I should note that the card does work correctly in text
mode. When I kill the errant X server processes, though, the console does
not return.
Thanks!
Replies via email, please.

I've attached my XF86Config's for 3.x and 4.x, as well as the results from
X -probeonly for 3 and 4.
