Subject: problems with the linux-2.2 version of Netscape-6.0, suse_linux-6.4, and NetBSD-1.5F/i386

I had the occasion to upgrade the linux emulation libraries on one of my
machines today (using pkgsrc) and so I thought I would try out
Netscape-6 (last time I tried it the suse_linux-6.3 libraries were
missing something it wanted).

Eventually I got it all installed and it starts up fine, lets me edit
preferences, browse files, manage bookmarks, compose html files,, etc.,
etc., etc.

However when I ask it to visit a remote web server with a normal URL it
pops up a warning dialog box that says:

The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.weird.com

and in the xterm where I started it it prints:

	Error loading URL http://www.weird.com/: 804b000d

When I try to visit an FTP URL it doesn't pop up any dialog warning,
though it does print a similar message in the xterm:

	Error loading URL ftp://ftp.weird.com/: 80004005

From the logs on these servers it would seem that no packets ever
arrive, and indeed there are no problems using other tools, including
the linux-2.2 version of Netscape-4.76 both before and after the
suse_linux upgrade, to access those servers from the same host where I'm
running ns6.

I've also tried using a proxy, but with exactly the same results
(regardless of whether the host is in the no-proxy list or not).

I'm guessing that this might be some kind of problem with the linux
emulation, perhaps specific to my NetBSD-1.5F kernel, and I'm wondering
if anyone else has seen anything like this, or knows if it's already
fixed in -current (or if there's a known fix, but it's not yet in).
