hi-

    i have noticed that the "delete" key on several of my systems
seems to send the string "\033[3~" rather than the expected "\177"...
why?   how can i put it back the way i expect?

    i hadn't noticed it before because the X11 version of emacs was 
translating the delete key to "\177" but i've been editing from the
console without X and the problem became clear.
