Although I do not get the same error. I was not able to build perl
(new nor old) from source neither.
As I recall the make goes 'alright' (with some minor file error messages),
but the build stops when trying to do the Dynamic/Static autoload link
thinghy. So after 3 times I downloaded the precompiled binary and
pkg_add'ed it, which worked flawlessly.

Ps. one , I think, major issue is the reported error that the -E flag for
ld is a no go.
ps2. what does it mean when a shift/reduce error is reported?
