Does anyone know if the VAIO SR9G is likely to boot NetBSD successfully,
with support for enough of its hardware to make it useful? ie: the
video, cdrom via pcmcia, probably usb ethernet (since it has just one
pcmcia/cardbus slot) ? I don't care about esoterics like firewire, ilink,
sound, ...
This is the 1.34Kg (base system) 5.5hr (est) battery life version
(those being the two factors that matter most in a laptop imo).
If this system isn't likely to work and be useful (using what is in
NetBSD-current essentially right now) then the alternative is likely
to be a Gateway Solo, which is much heavier, and runs much less time
on its battery (and that might happen anyway, the solo is lots cheaper).
