Time to update on this problem....

I've replaced my 486-DX2/66 motherboard with a triton chipset based
Pentium-120 machine (which oddly has IDE on the motherboard, but not a
floppy controller!). I'm using the same ne2000 clone cards for now.

'ping -f' to a local host now runs at over 900 pps and ftp says:

	put:	11618494 bytes sent in 00:20 (555.88 KB/s)

	get:	11618494 bytes received in 00:12 (914.16 KB/s)

YEAH!

So, let's forget my old problems and blame them all on that extemely
broken motherboard I was unfortunate enough to choose for my router's
first brain. (I'm going to move its 486-DX2/66 chip to another
motherboard that has no PCI slots, as soon as I figure out how to jumper
it right, and see if it's still worth using.)

As soon as my source tree is in shape for building kernels again I'm
going to try the 8013 and EtherExpers-Pro10's (iy) again.....
