1) If you like building things from sources (but doing so easily)

If you don't already have pkgsrc installed, follow the 'Setting up' section.

Once you have that, just
cd /usr/pkgsrc/x11/kde && make install
cd /usr/pkgsrc/x11/gnome && make install


2) If you like installing from binary packages,

Assuming you're running 1.4.2, you can use:
pkg_add ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/1.4.2/i386/All/gnome-1.2.1.tgz

pkg_add ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/1.4.2/i386/All/kde-1.1.2.tgz

Those will fetch gnome/kde binaries, and all the pre-requisites. If you're
running 1.5_ALPHA, or 1.5_ALPHA2, replace the '1.4.2' component of the path above.
