Yes it can depend on the BIOS, and certainly in my case it was a lousy
choice of geometry numbers on the BIOS' part.

However the bug remains: sysinst should not write an MBR whose "linear"
partition numbers and C/H/S numbers are inconsistent, period. Especially
since 'fdisk -u' corrected the problem, I really don't see how you can
blame the BIOS for this one.
