My laptop locked up yesterday while it was idle (maybe it was running
the daily scripts, dunno).  It _never_ locked up with 1.4.x.

I'll try updating to most recent kernel to see if that helps..

I still have PCMCIA problems with two ISA adapters on a desktop system..
