I had that problem a long time ago on my Cyrix 6x86 PR133 (overclocked to
PR166), the thing was getting too hot and after a few hours of X it would
just die. Sometimes it needed to be rebooted, other times a simple 'dd
if=/dev/hda of=/dev/null bs=1024k count=<amount of RAM in MB>' did the
trick.

Is X the only program that's dying with Signal 11? There's a signal 11 FAQ
