I experienced a freeze today during a pkg install of linux-locale, which
contains a huge number of small files i think. I have a stock pentium 233
mmx cpu here running 1.5 alpha with softdeps enabled. fsck had to be run 
manually due to the large number of errors on /usr from the hang. Things
seem ok now after reboot, and i managed to redo the install so who knows.

The symptoms were the keyboard locked up completely, no led action on
shift keys, virtual terminal changes were not working, no disk activity.
