I've also experienced similar freezing problems with 1.5_ALPHA on an
Intel Pentium, though. The first time it happened was when i was compiling
ssh, all terminals just froze and my cpu busy light came on and stayed on,
until i hard booted. The second time it was after i had mounted an MSDOS
FS, and i `ls`'d it....It froze then. I haven't been able to test if it
would respond to pings, telnet, or anything, but the problems sound rather
similar. Mine is a clean snapshot install from 20000620-1.5. I have reason
to believe it may be the Generic 1.5_ALPHA kernel in that snapshot,
etc...But I'm really not sure. Another one of my machines exhibited
similar behaviours before i put 1.5A kernel compiled from CVS sources a
week ago. It froze, and i had to drive 15 minutes to console to see it
just sitting there...
