This discussion started in netbsd-help. Yes it looks like an IRQ conflict:
isapnp gives irq 4 to the modem, which is also used my com0.
I initially though it's because com ports can't share IRQs at hardware
level (I already had problems like that), but as this modem is working under
OpenBSD with irq4, they I guess it's a problem with our com driver.
