I just thought I'd toss in yet another interesting (or
not) fact to the COM port discussion.  In Windows 95
OSR2 (I think. It's one of the OEM versions anyway) if
the com ports aren't detected by windows you can add
in COM devices which use the default settings and
can't be changed.  Basically the com ports settings
are hard wired and ignore the bios.
