I can verify this. 1.8.0 cores on my Aptiva, 1.4.2/i386 as soon as I
hit the mouse. Wharf too. Same thing if I use the 840AV (mac68k) as
the X server. Funny thing is, 1.8.0 on my 486, 1.4.1+, built on that
host, works fine, and the m68k binaries work fine. (That's a switch!)
Also OK with the laptop running 1.4X/i386.

I would like to try the 1.4.1 built package on the 1.4.2 host, but I
won't have access to the 1.4.1 machine for a couple of weeks.
