Subject: Has anyone got a CDU924 ir 926S (SCSI) running.

For about a week two years ago, I had this CD-ROM burner working
just great. It stopped working after an 'upgrade' and hasn't worked
since. I've decided to re-apply myself to the writer (I need to
start making CDs again) and I'm running into all kinds of trouble.

Part of the mojo is to make sure I call for the right device, which
is apparently called /dev/cd0d:2.0. That generates an error about
"Operation not supported by device."

Currently, the drive is in 'WORM' mode, which I suspect is part of
the problem (there used to be a problem with identifying the
CD-WRITER with the CD-READER, so we used the WORM drive, not CD-ROM
commands). This was the correct mode when I burned CDs before.
Does anyone know if the new CD-ROM code in 1.4.2X allows for writing
as well as reading?

Here is the dmesg output, along with the error messages from the SCSIVERBOSE
options. If anyone can decypher this, I'd like to hear from you.
